Chelsea confirm signing of highly rated Welsh goalkeeper Eddie Beach


helsea have signed goalkeeper Eddie Beach.

The 18-year-old arrives from Southampton and will join the academy for an undisclosed fee.

Beach is highly rated and Chelsea have reportedly beaten a number of clubs interested in signing the teenager.

He represented Wales at Under-19 level, made 20 appearances in all competitions for Southampton U18s last season as they topped the Premier League South last season. The young Saints team then lost to Manchester City in the domestic final.


Beach was even rewarded with an outing for the U23s.

Jim Fraser, Chelsea’s assistant head of youth development and head of youth recruitment, told the club’s official website: “We are very happy to bring Eddie to the club.

“He is a talented goalkeeper with good potential and he will join our development team for the coming season.”

Beach is not expected to be the only new goalkeeper to come through Chelsea’s door this summer, with the club also interested in Chicago Fire’s Gabriel Slonina.
