The voting process for the 2022 MLB All-Star Game is still in full swing.

Fans are making their voices heard on social media and league platforms.

They want to see their team’s stars play in the exhibition game, but they also recognize other teams’ best talent when they see it.

For Chicago Cubs fans, getting outfielder Ian Happ into the All-Star Game is a matter of pride.

They’ve had a very disappointing season so far, going 25-43 among the worst in the National League.

Happ, however, was hugely impressive near the top of their range.

“Ian Happ leads MLB outfielders with a .387 OBP and ranks 2nd among NL OF with his .854 OPS. He’s hit 18 of his last 20 games, batting .375 with 11 XBH and 10 walks. Build @ihapp_1an All-Star,” posted the Cubs’ official Twitter account, along with the link to vote for the star outfielder.

Happ has achieved something remarkable

Happ did something incredibly hard to achieve in MLB: cut his strikeout rate by about 10 percentage points.

The talented hitter cut .289/.387/.467 with seven homers and five stolen bases.

Still, perhaps the most impressive part of his statistical profile is his improved takedown rate.

Last season, he stoked 29.2% of his at-bats.

This time?

He succeeded in reducing this percentage to 19.5%.

It’s terribly impressive and says a lot about his ability to make adjustments.

He probably deserves to be an All-Star just by that number alone.

The Cubs are doing their part: Let’s hope Happ can get the recognition he deserves somehow.

The Cubs would probably be the worst team in the league without him.
